Sinner, debut in ROtterdam with Van de Zandschulp

The draw for the Dutch ATP 500 puts Jannik again in front of the Dutchman as in Australia: probably on the pitch on Monday

A deja vu with sweet memories, for Jannik Sinner, in the draw of the ATP 500 in Rotterdam, scheduled for Monday in Holland. In the first round the blue, n.1 of the tournament, will meet the same opponent of the triumphant Australian Open in the first round, namely Botic van de Zandschulp, who will smile (but we believe not too much) at the coincidence, certainly not a lucky one for him. Sinner will most likely make his debut in Rotterdam on Monday, and his draw, drawn this evening, seems favorable enough (there would be no need, given the blue’s state of form) to allow him a victory and therefore the landing at number three in the world, first Italian in history in the event, given the absence of the reigning champion, Daniil Medvedev, who had beaten Sinner in the final last year. In the possible second round Jannik would have to face a qualified player or Gael Monfils, in the quarter-finals one of Coric, Bublik or Raonic would most likely be waiting for him, in the semi-final most likely the Polish Hurkacz, the most formidable opponent of the world number four in that part of the draw, and in the final one of Rublev, Rune or Dimitrov would be waiting.

THE OTHER BLUE

In short, nothing is impossible for Sinner, who starts in Rotterdam as a huge favorite, and couldn’t do otherwise after the great victory at the Australian Open. Two other Italians on the scoreboard, Lorenzo Musetti (on Sinner’s side), who will debut against another Dutchman, Griekspoor, a very difficult task for the other Lorenzo, Sonego, immediately against Grigor Dimitrov. Also on the field tomorrow for the qualifiers is Giulio Zeppieri, who will meet former top ten player Roberto Bautista Agut.
