In the end he had to give up his brave fight against glioblastoma, a malignant brain tumour. Tom Parker passed away on Wednesday (March 30) in his hometown of Bolton, aged just 33. The former The Wanted singer began his career as a teenager with tribute band Take That II and was part of the next generation of British boy bands.

Tom Parker was one of the big young UK voices

The father of two has been one of Britain’s big youth voices since 2010’s The Wanted single ‘All Time Low’ and subsequent platinum-winning albums. After a hit reality TV series The Wanted Life, he decided to pursue a solo career. In September 2021, The Wanted performed a poignant comeback concert for Parker at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have to confirm that Tom passed away peacefully in the early morning hours with his entire family by his side,” his wife Kelsey Parker wrote on Instagram. “Our hearts are broken. Tom was the center of our world and we cannot imagine life without his winning smile and energy.”

Parker first announced his cancer in October 2020. At that time, the doctors had already diagnosed a far advanced tumor formation, with a very short time to live.

Tom Parker didn’t want to give up

Since then, Parker has continued to appear in public. The singer and TV presenter did not want to give up on the disease. Although he had to be in a wheelchair for a while from 2022, he was full of optimism. The long-term treatment on the Spanish Costa del Sol with various chemo sessions and 30 radiation therapies seemed to be fruitful, the tumors have meanwhile become smaller. But in the end, cancer won out.
