Hazel O’Connor, who rose to fame in the 1980s with hits like “Eighth Day”, “D-Days” and “Will You?”, suffered a serious medical incident. This was announced by her family. The incident had already occurred on January 9th.

O’Connor was found at her home in southern France and then taken to a local hospital. A brain hemorrhage was found there. The punk singer was then placed in an artificial coma.

The coma ended on Monday, as her brother Neil announced. Since then she has been on the mend, even if her recovery will probably take some time. The treatment would work well and O’Connor would respond to stimuli. Neil O’Connor thanked the medical staff in France for their service, adding: “I understand that she has returned to her usual vivacity.”

Hazel O’Connor became known in the eighties with the film “Breaking Glass”. Some of the songs she contributed to the film’s soundtrack had even entered the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart. She released her solo album SONS AND LOVERS that same year and had been releasing music continuously ever since.

O’Connor, who lives in Ireland and France, was due to tour the UK from March. Your management has not yet commented on this, but a statement is expected shortly.
