The Lion City Sailors won the Singapore Community Shield and were crowned Supercup winners again after 2019. The reigning champions of the Singapore Premier League prevailed in the final against second-placed Albirex Niigata 2-1 (1-1).
The latter had taken the lead in the early stages thanks to Tadanari Lee (14), before Shin-wook Kim equalized before half-time (41′) and brought the win in the closing stages (87′). The South Korean striker only moved from China to Singapore from SH Shenhua at the turn of the year, where he has signed a contract until the end of 2024 and has now scored his first goals. After the Supercup game, the start of the Singaporean Premier League, which starts next weekend, is imminent.
