Singapore Airlines suspends flights to Moscow

Singapore Airlines is temporarily suspending flights to Moscow from February 28. report TASS and RIA Novosti with reference to the statement of the carrier. Flights SQ362 and SQ361 on the Singapore-Moscow route have been cancelled. The limitation period is not specified in the application.

The company explained the cancellation of flights for “operational reasons” and promised to refund the cost of air tickets to passengers.

Earlier, the EU countries closed the airspace for all aircraft registered in Russia, including private ones, after the start of the military operation in Ukraine. This means that aircraft cannot take off, land or fly over EU territory. Poland, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria were the first to impose a ban on flights of Russian airlines – from 00:00 on February 26.

Canada and the UK have taken similar steps. Canada’s transport minister took to social media to say the country was “holding Russia accountable for its unprovoked attack on Ukraine.”

After that, Aeroflot Airlines decided to suspend flights to Europe from February 28. The Federal Air Transport Agency, Rostourism and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs promised to organize the export of Russians from Europe.
