Night bird’s career has lasted for over 30 years. Fans are waiting for a new album from the band, and Simo Silm has an answer to this too.
The story of the Yölintu band has been going on for over 30 years and there is no information on the rest.
This is how they tell Iltalehti a moment before the Seinäjoki Tango Market show on Friday in July. In July, there are over 20 gigs, which is quite a common number of the band’s summer calendar.

The band really states in one voice that festival gigs are the most preferred to play.
– These are the fascinations and everything works. It is clear where the frosting is made because it is made because they play and stop. It makes this work easier, bassist Jari Luostari describes at the beginning of the interview.
The break did good
The band returned to the gigs at the end of January after two and a half months after a gig. The gig was due to surgery for the bow character Simo Silo. Now everything is fine and the gigs roll in the same way as before.

Other bands took a gig as an honest holiday. Time was released for making new music and other projects that you usually don’t have to tear.
– This band has done quite a while for many years, so probably a little longer in that relationship, too, drummer Harri Lehtonen admits.
The gig does not get tired of the bud and other band members, as everything is already accustomed to. In August, the night bird will have a few weeks of holidays before the autumn gigs and early winter concert tour.

When asked about the band’s future, Silmu gets joking. There is still desire to continue, but realities are known.
– I would say that the band’s age is starting to be more than halfway. If we continue here for another 30 years, then we are already 80, Silmu laughs.
– We are getting a new audience all the time and the gigs have become a second generation. That too will cheer up this job, says guitarist Jukka Harju.

– The popularity is good and it is nice to go to gigs, so at least not to stop it right away. But year at a time, he continues.
The night bird has been allowed to prove two, three or even four generations of gigs. Such moments make gigs even more meaningful.
The new generation’s arrival for gigs has also changed the band’s music in a more natural way. The current goal of the night bird is to provide a mood and celebration to the listeners. The band plans to make and publish new music in the same way as until now: when it is entertained.
– The same thing is about the album, it comes when it comes. Now you don’t dare to promise it, Silmu inches.
Jerk
One reason for the band’s continuity and a long age is the current group. Lehtonen jumped four years ago, while the monastery and Harju have been influenced by the band for over 13 years.
Members also highlight the factors of “more invisible work”, which, however, play a major role in the success of each gig. The monastery highlights the role of Tomi Lahtinen, who is responsible for technology and Silmu’s wife, as a salesman for band products.
Jari Luostari says that the night bird is his longest continuous bandmate. Henri Kärkkäinen
– The salt of this job is that the chemistry is right and that is a good group. Then you can and dare to call others in your spare time. Now a very good joint sound has been found on the stage and outside the stage.
Silmu is more than satisfied that Päivi-In wife goes to gigs.
– I’m a bit of a sneaky, things are forgotten and I don’t remember everything. It’s good that we certainly have one, who is a little command and keeps us a joke, Silmu concludes.
