Silvana murder case: after a search, now an investigation into what happened

Until now, the investigation in the Silvana case has mainly focused on finding the missing woman from Hoogeloon. After her dead body was found in the woods between Vessem and Veldhoven on Tuesday evening, everything is now being pulled out of the closet to find out exactly what happened in the run-up to her death. That explains a police spokesman Wednesday morning.

From a search in a missing person case, it has become an investigation into a murder case. Something that became clear on Tuesday when the judiciary announced that Silvana’s 41-year-old ex, who was already incarcerated, is suspected of murdering his ex-partner.

Somewhere between four and six o’clock Tuesday night it became definitively clear to the police that the body found was indeed the missing Silvana, says the police spokesman.

When asked why the police went to search in the forest between Vessem and Veldhoven at the exact spot in question, the spokesperson did not provide a clear answer on Wednesday. “We received a lead that we took very seriously.” He did not answer the question whether that indication came from the 41-year-old suspect.

The investigation now
Now the police and judiciary hope to get all the facts and circumstances on the table about what exactly happened ‘around the disappearance of Silvana and her sad demise’.

“We will include everything that can clarify this in this investigation, which is led by the Public Prosecution Service. You should think of witness statements, traces on the road surface, traces in the woods and possible camera images of routes that have been driven,” he sums up.

The investigation into these traces at the site near the Half Mijl in Veldhoven is still in full swing on Wednesday. And earlier research has already been done in the house of the suspect in Hoogeloon and also in Silvana’s house.

Help public
In the meantime, police continue to enlist the public’s help. “Do you have camera images or other information, share it with the police,” the call reads.

The Public Prosecution Service will not provide any further explanation on the course of the investigation on Wednesday. “The suspect is in restrictions,” says a spokesman. “This means that we can say little or nothing.”
