After heavy rain showers on Sunday to Sunday, Rock am Ring has to deal with significant problems in the parking situation. Parts of the parking areas around the Nürburgring are softened by the rain that lasts for several hours and sometimes no longer accessible. Numerous vehicles got stuck in the mud, helpers had to move in with tractors to free them. However, the organizer reacted directly.
For day guests from Rock am Ring: Nordschleife is open
In order to defuse the tense situation, those responsible announced new parking options on Sunday afternoon. Visitors are now redirected to the so-called “C zone”- an area with a gravel and asphalt surface that is significantly more weather-resistant. But that’s not all: from 2 p.m. a piece of motorsport history becomes a festival car park. The legendary Nordschleife is released as a parking area.
The entrance to the Nordschleife is located on the edge of the festival site near Green Camping (plane section B412). On site, folders help to be instructed. To facilitate the way to the festival site, shuttle buses drive in two lines: the “black line” from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., the “red line” even until 4 a.m.
Police observed location – departure on Monday remains exciting
The police confirm the difficult parking situation, but also warns of premature assessments. “We have to wait and see how the weather behaves,” said a spokesman on Sunday morning. The situation on Monday should be particularly critical – the traditional main day of departure. If cars get stuck in the mud, this could lead to longer waiting times.
Rock am Ring on Sunday: Warning of wind gusts
Despite the challenges, Rock am Ring has been weatherproof – also thanks to the quick reaction of the organizer. For Sunday there is at least partially all -clear from the weather radar: for the most part, it should stay dry. This certainly helps to make the departure on Monday more relaxed than it still appears. In addition, the German Weather Service warns of wind gusts with speeds of up to 60 km/h. Tents and pavilions should therefore be secured and loose objects should be stowed away.
