At around 7:35 PM, a 21-year-old boy was stabbed for unknown reasons. He may have wanted to calm an argument. The victim suffered serious injuries and was resuscitated, but to no avail. Soon after, the festivities were instead halted. Witnesses and other involved were received in the town hall. According to Palmen, about 100 people were present. “There was sadness, disbelief and anger.”

By midnight Monday, a suspect was arrested. This was done on the basis of witness statements. Because of carnival, many people were present in the village center. The identity of the suspect has not yet been released.
