Have you ever thought about a career in journalism, but don’t know where to start? Then look no further, because the editorial staff of indebuurt is looking for new journalistic talent. And you don’t need any journalistic experience or training for that.

Fanny Mustamu and Shalinie Ramlal followed the traineeship in 2024, did an internship at indebuurt and the best news is: we don’t have to miss them anymore! Editor-in-chief Jantine van den Hoven of indebuurt: “At indebuurt we are always looking for stories from the cities – and preferably from all kinds of holes and corners. I am very happy that Fanny and Shalinie are now helping us with this. It makes me very proud that they have now completed their training and are working with us.”

What are you going to learn?

During this traineeship you will work one day a week for six months at various editorial offices (and yes, that can also be the editorial office of Indebuurt!) and you will learn all about media, journalism, news websites and more. The idea is that you follow the traineeship alongside your existing work, and see whether working in the media suits you.

Who are we looking for?

We organize this traineeship for lateral entrants with diverse backgrounds. Candidates with a passion for creating media, without previous journalistic training or work experience, but with a journalistic and creative heart. You are eligible if you…

• Have a great passion for news, have broad general knowledge and follow current affairs closely.
• You are curious by nature, ask questions about everything and can tell stories like no other.
• Have demonstrable affinity with media. You can touch people with your texts, videos and/or podcasts.
• You are extremely motivated to immerse yourself in the field of journalism for six months and join the various editorial offices of DPG Media.

We are especially curious about you and what you bring to the table. Consider, for example, education, language skills, (cultural) background or interests.

Why are we doing this?

As the largest media company in the Netherlands, we are open to all talent in society.
