How crisis is our health system?

Who is involved?
The restructuring is shared by the Ministry of Justice and Health of the State of Schleswig-Holstein (State Secretary Katja Rathje-Hoffmann), through the Doctor Chamber of Schleswig-Holsteinthe Hospital company SH as well as numerous experts from science and practice. TH Lübeck continues to think – in the Beyond Expediency project
The project is managed by Dipl.-Ing. Architect Stephan Wehrig, who with his professorship, the health building at the department Construction the TH Lübeck is responsible. He and his team think with the project title Beyond Expediency – far beyond classic functionalities: Hospital planning must not only be functional, but also human -centered and sustainable
says Wehrig.
They face concrete challenges – for example: to design waiting areas in such a way that they reduce stress, enable shorter paths and intuitive guidelines and think about structural adjustments to extreme weather events.
University research made visible
In its contribution, the NDR Schleswig-Holstein documented how researched and taught at TH Lübeck in a practical and socially relevant manner. The project shows how application -oriented science can be combined with practical requirements. This is particularly important for health buildings that have a high level of social importance. We are very pleased that we can get this project on the way together with the state and for Schleswig-Holstein
said Dr. Kim Muriel Helbig, President of the TH Lübeck in the course of the transfer of funding for the project in December 2024.
