After the House of Representatives adopted a new proposal for the US budget at the last minute on Friday (local time), the text was also approved by the Senate shortly after midnight local time. This has virtually averted a so-called shutdown, a paralysis of the federal government apparatus: only President Biden now has to sign the agreement. He is expected to do so on Saturday.
