‘Shownieuws face goes off course with comment about Gordon’

Singer Jayh, as the new expert of Shownieuws, has gone out of line with a comment about Gordon, according to television viewer Victor Vlam. “It’s just not true.”

Many eardrums were ruptured on February 20 last. Pooh, pooh, pooh, Gordon sang so out of tune at his album presentation. It led to the biggest scandal involving a bad singing artist since Mia & Dion. What is very striking: on that particular Tuesday evening, RTL Boulevard and Shownieuws hardly dared to express criticism.

Skipping

The show sections of RTL 4 and SBS 6 went into a kind of strange spasm: they showed that false song, but covered it all with the cloak of love; even Evert Santegoeds was mild. They only really dared to hit the target when the men from Today Inside decided to laugh at Gordon on national television a day later.

Why is that exactly? “Well, that’s a bit because you’re always balancing between saying what you think and keeping the stars friendly. Then everyone always tries to add a compliment,” Victor explains. “With things like this, it is understandable that you also want to say something positive about Gordon.”

Out of the bend

Saying something positive is fine, Victor thinks. “But then you shouldn’t go too far. And there is one person who did that again. In Shownieuws the new music expert there, his name is Jayh, really went completely off the rails as far as I was concerned. He did have a lot of criticism of Gordon. ‘He didn’t sing very well,’ he said.”

“But he also said: ‘Gordon, yes, that is one of the best singers we know in the Netherlands. I don’t think there is any discussion about that.’ Well, it seems to me that there is a lot of room for discussion about this.”

‘Do not say that’

Victor just finds it laughable that a ‘music expert’ says that. “With all due respect, Gordon is not one of the best singers in the Netherlands. He isn’t now, but he never was. If you just simply look at how many number one hits he has had… One! If only I could be with you for a short while.”

“I don’t think there is anyone in the Netherlands who thinks that and if I were a music expert, I wouldn’t say things like that either. I really would have thought about that more.”
