The opening blocks of the World Cup will be played as a package on Monday and Tuesday. This is how Leijoni’s quarter-final match will be decided.
Finland will decide the victory in Group A of the World Cup in the match against Switzerland on Tuesday.
The winner takes first place. The loser will be the runner-up.
In the quarter-finals, the winner gets the four of the B group, the runner-up the third of the B group.
In Group B, Canada is certainly among the top two. The second, third and fourth places go to the quartet Czech Republic–Slovakia–Norway–Sweden.
Norway is ranked twelfth in the IIHF ranking – that is, basically, by far the easiest of the possible quarter-final opponents, despite their loss to Sweden on Saturday.
The initial blocks are played in a package on Monday and Tuesday. In the last matches on Tuesday at 21:20, Canada and the Czech Republic and Finland and Switzerland will meet.
The third and fourth places in group B may be confirmed even before the last matches on Tuesday. If Norway finishes third, perhaps second place in Group A would be a more attractive option than winning the group and first place.
In group A, the quarter-final places behind Finland and Switzerland go to the quartet Austria-Latvia-Germany-USA.
The United States has struggled and captured only five points from its five World Cup matches, but the next place is still in its own hands. Three-point wins over Hungary on Monday and Austria on Tuesday would surely propel the Yankees into the quarterfinals — and possibly against Canada.

Two of the semifinals will be played in Zurich, two in Friborg. The placement in the top two secured by the victory in Austria means that the Lions’ tournament will continue in Zurich.
The semifinal matches will be played on Thursday at 17:20 and 21:20. The host country, i.e. Switzerland, would play in the later of the options, which would mean an early quarter-final for Finland.
