As Besiktas JK confirmed, the club is in negotiations with the Belgians regarding a transfer of the 24-year-old attacker. In Turkey the transfer window is open until Friday.
Information about the transfer fee varied at the time. While Transfermarkt heard a sum between 18 million and 20 million euros from the Swabians’ environment, it was said in Belgium that up to 28 million euros including bonuses were offered. At first it was said that the transfer failed due to the medical check, but this was denied by Genk. “Despite an earlier agreement in principle between both clubs, the deal has stalled due to disagreements over the specific transfer conditions,” the club said at the time via the Belgian newspaper HLN.
So Oh stayed, scoring ten goals in 32 games this season and assisting three more. According to Turkish media reports, Besiktas is now ready to pay 15 million euros for the 24-time South Korean international. That would make him the third most expensive signing in the club’s history.
The Besiktas squad, which is fifth in the Süper Lig, only has one center forward, 18-year-old Mustafa Hekimoğlu. With Tammy Abraham, the most accurate professional and established attacker moved to Aston Villa in the winter for 21 million euros. The Englishman, who scored 13 goals in 26 games, initially came on loan for 2 million euros in the summer of 2025 and was signed by AS Roma for 13 million euros before the transfer to his homeland.
