The 53-year-old Driekus K., who would have shot his 39-year-old ex-wife in Gouda on Tuesday afternoon in the eyes of their two children, was sentenced in 2009 to 13 years in prison for attempted murder of another ex-girlfriend. De Telegraaf reports that.

The man from Eindhoven was sentenced by the Den Bosch court in April 2009 to a prison sentence of 13 years for, among other things, an attempted murder of a 34-year-old ex-lover and the serious abuse of her brother.

It seems that K. could not accept it at the time that a loved one put an end to the relationship. On October 26, 2008, K. implemented the plan to kill his ex-girlfriend, says a judgment of the Oost-Brabant court. With a firearm he goes to the flat of his ex in the Hoogheem district in Boxtel.

Eight bullets
There he hides in the bushes. When the woman, her son and her brother arrive at the flat, K. steps out. First he shoots the man in his leg and then he fires eight bullets on his ex. She is hit in her chin, neck and chest.

The woman ends up in Intensive Care and barely survives the murder attack, but retains permanent physical and psychological complaints. The man would have threatened her earlier.

Declaration
Earlier it became clear that the 39-year-old woman who was shot on Tuesday made a report against K. After the report, the man was arrested for mistreatment of the woman and possession of firearms. Two weeks later he was released again.

The woman was shot at the Bosweg in Gouda last Tuesday. She died of her injuries on the street. The man who would have shot her is her ex-husband. After an hour -long search he was found seriously injured in the dunes near the Zwarte Pad in Scheveningen. Emergency services have tried to save his life, but this no longer helped.

Timeline
A spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service (OM) of Oost-Brabant has previously announced that he will take femicide into account ‘certainly’. The OM is currently drawing up a timeline of the events prior to the shooting.
