The woman from Eindhoven, who was shot in Gouda on Tuesday afternoon, reported her ex-partner last month. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) confirms this. The 53-year-old man was arrested for mistreatment of women and firearm possession. This man is also suspected of shooting the woman. The OM lets it be ‘sure’ to take femicide into account.

The 39-year-old woman reported her ex-partner on 2 June, for which the OM cannot say. The 53-year-old man from Eindhoven was finally arrested for possession of weapons and mistreatment of his ex-wife. On 5 June he was brought before the examining magistrate and then held for two weeks for possession of weapons. He was released again on June 18.

A spokesperson for the Public Prosecution Service (OM) of Oost-Brabant announces that he will certainly take femicide into account. At the moment a timeline is being made with what happened prior to the shooting.

Died on the street
The police received a report on Tuesday afternoon around Halfvier that there had been a shot on the Bosweg in Gouda. At the place where this would have happened, emergency services found a victim. It was the 39-year-old woman from Eindhoven. She died of her injuries on the street.

After an hour -long search, the man who would have shot her was found seriously injured in the dunes near the Black Pad in Scheveningen that evening. Emergency services have tried to save his life, but this no longer helped. The man died in the dunes. The police assume that he has robbed himself of life.

No public criminal session
Because the suspect has died, it does not come to a public criminal session and his police and the OM further reluctant with announcements about the case.

Talking about thoughts to suicide helps and is possible, for example, via the national helpline 113: or 0900-0113.
