TSV Havelse never gives up! This is what it really looks like in the fight to stay in the third football league. The Garbseners were actually relegated early in the home game against VfB Stuttgart II on Sunday evening. But in the third minute of added time the winning goal was scored to make it 3-2 (1-0).
Four minutes before the end of regular time, Temilola Samuel Awoyale came into the game. Seven minutes later, the “Joker” struck and became the match winner for TSV Havelse in front of 532 spectators in the Eilenriedestadion in Hanover, who retained their theoretical chances of staying in the league thanks to the late victory. Thanks to the success on matchday 35, which was no longer thought possible, TSV coach Samir Ferchichi’s team climbed to 17th place in the table with 32 points.
“You can see what kind of faith the boys have. Today we brought on another ‘joker’ who scored. We believe in ourselves, we can basically never be killed,” Ferchichi told NDR. His team is eight points behind the first non-relegation place held by fellow promoted team TSG Hoffenheim II. Havelse could still get nine points later in the season. On Saturday the “Mission Impossible” continues with a game at SC Verl.
Awoyale crowns Havelse’s comeback
In the home game against Stuttgart II, Julius Düker gave the few TSV fans in the stadium a lot of hope with a 1-0 win in stoppage time in the first half. And the hosts also had a great chance to extend their lead in the 59th minute through Leon Sommer. But he took a little too long to shoot on goal in a central position in the penalty area.
During the Havelser pressure phase, Noah Darvich made it 1-1 (65th). And then also this: Havelse’s keeper Norman Quindt let a harmless shot from Mansour Ouro-Tagba pass – 1:2 (72nd). Emre Aytun quickly equalized to make it 2-2 (74′), but after that the North Germans ran unsuccessfully for a long time.
But then, in the third minute of added time, the ball somehow ended up at Awoyale. The midfielder simply poked the ball towards the VfB goal and was successful. 3:2 – TSV Havelse remains in the race to stay in the league!
