Italy closes with 9 medals. Improved 30 world records
Italy collects the last two medals at the World Championships in Budapest in the short course: an individual silver in the 200 backstroke, a group bronze thanks to the men’s 4×100 medley. The haul is 9 medals in the first post-Paris event. Lorenzo Mora wins silver, the eighth Italian medal at the short course World Championships in Budapest. The second most famous from Carpi after Paltrinieri, trained by Claudio Rossettto at the federal center in Ostia, reaches 1’48″96 (he has an Italian record of 1’48″43) and conquers the metal he was missing after the medals in the 50 and 100. Only the home Olympian Hubert Kos beats him, author of the championship record in 1’45″65, with the Frenchman Tomac taking bronze in 1’48″93. Short course specialist, Lollo, 26 years old, is a great character who always tries and has consistently medaled for the past three years (his third silver at the World Championships). Mora says: “It was the only distance where I missed silver, I knew that today it was possible. The first was unreachable, he is Olympic champion for a reason. I am very happy, I hoped to do a little better. The fact of being an old man involves knowing how to manage a little better the emotional baggage that the races bring with them. I have improved in recent years, it was important to finish well.” Then Mora launches the 4×100 mixed to the bronze of the confirmation of 2022 in Melbourne for the ninth medal of the expedition (1-5-3) in a race won with the world record by Russia in 3’18″68 which overthrows the 3’18″98 of the USA with Lifintsev 49″31, Prigoda 55″15, Minakov 48″80, Kornev 45″42. Americans beaten in 3’19″03 (Casas 48″92, Andrew 57″03, Rose 48″55, Alexy 44″53 and ahead of the Azzurri authors of 3’19″91 (Mora 49″53, Viberti 56″15, Busa 48″81, Miressi 45″42), 4. Poland 3’21″02.

She was 14 years old, now she is almost 20. In a somewhat long turn, she then gave her all in the final rush, finding herself under the podium as in Paris in the 100.
