Stores may be open earlier in the municipality of Noordenveld. Instead of at noon, stores can now be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays and public holidays. Only Christmas Day remains an exception. The city council agreed tonight.
It is not new that stores use these opening hours. Alderman Jos Darwinkel (Gemeentebelangen): “In practice, different stores already did this. Then you can do two things: maintain or adjust the regulations.” Now it is legal to be open earlier.
It is not an obligation for stores to actually open earlier. Emiel van der Heide, Chairman of Business Circle Roden: “There are stores that need the expansion. For example, supermarkets and drugstores. The independent shopkeeper who attaches less value to it may not use it.”
Just like on shopping evenings, it is free to be open or closed within the times that the municipality has now determined.
