Shopping cart image Beilen turns up at New Year’s Eve team in Haule: ‘It is not possible to pay for shopping’

“I wonder if anyone really missed the statue, but it is now safely here in Haule,” says Jorrit Jan van der Vosse of Hauler New Year’s Team (HOP) proudly. Last week, the Frisian New Year’s Eve Association managed to take an oversized shopping cart from Beilen without being seen. The statue was located at the Jumbo distribution center in Beilen.

This morning the statue was unveiled in Haule. Where the Drenthe New Year’s Eve associations make the unveilings on New Year’s Eve and just after New Year’s Eve, HOP in Haule does this in the morning of New Year’s Day. “This morning we drove through the village with the shopping cart on a cart and people can come and admire our catch all day long. We will move the statue inside late tonight, because we want to deliver it undamaged again. The stuff should not be broken by fireworks or drunkenness.” people,” says Van der Vosse of HOP.

The theft of the statue was quite complicated. Jorrit Jan van der Vosse: “We were already in Beilen on Thursday evening and thought we would lift the shopping cart off the pedestal together. But the statue was a lot heavier than expected and you don’t want to hang around there for too long.” So the members of HOP returned to Haule empty-handed that evening. On Friday evening they returned to Beilen with heavier artillery. “We now had a mini shovel with us and the job was done in no time,” says Van der Vosse.

The text has been placed next to the image; Buying groceries is not affordable!! to indicate that prices rose sharply in the past year. The New Year’s Eve team has now emailed the distribution center about the promotion, but had not yet received a response. The shopping cart will be returned to Beilen next week.
