Officers found a plastic bag full of money during a traffic stop near Vught. It involved more than 110,000 euros in cash. A 36-year-old man from Zaandam has been arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

The inspection was on Tuesday, May 26. The police paid particular attention to rental vehicles and signals of undermining. Officers took a rented van off the road for an inspection.

The driver could not show a rental agreement. Officers did not trust it and decided to examine the van further. Under the passenger seat they found a white plastic bag containing a large amount of cash.

The money was taken for further investigation. The man has now been released, but he remains a suspect in the case.

According to the police, the man must be able to prove where the money came from. If that doesn’t work, he won’t get the amount back.
