In Vällingby, Sweden, in northwest Stockholm, a major police operation is currently underway after a shooting at a McDonald’s restaurant. Four people would have been shot, reports ‘Aftonbladet’. The suspect or suspects are said to have fired fireworks during the shooting “to create confusion”.
Police received the first report of the shooting around 7 p.m. According to information from ‘Aftonbladet’, four people were shot, at least one person was seriously injured. The emergency services are massively present.
In a statement, the police speak of three injured. “We cannot go into details about the injuries at the moment, but all those involved have been taken to hospital,” says a spokesperson. With the help of police dogs and a helicopter, the perpetrator(s) are being sought at various locations. and roadblocks have been set up at entrances and exits around Stockholm.
A witness says that around 6.30 pm he suddenly heard “bangs and fireworks” at the McDonald’s restaurant. “There were a lot of explosions, it was not normal,” said the witness. “And it was very difficult to distinguish shots from fireworks. It happened in such a way that it really looked like a deliberate diversion.”
