Shoes are the icing on the cake of every outfit. You can give a look elegance, set a fashionable statement – and in the best case bring us through everyday life.
In spring and summer 2025, both timeless classics and striking trends shape shoe fashion. These are the trends.
Which shoe trends are announced this season?
The comeback of the ballerinas is particularly striking. A classic that is now reinterpreted with modern details. “This trend announced itself in autumn 2024 and can also be seen everywhere in spring/summer 2025,” says style consultant Dunja Hess. In addition to the classic, rounded models, there are now variants with decorative rivets or glittering rhinestones.
Mary-jane shoes with straps above the back of the foot and pointed or angular shoe tips are also coming back. They differ somewhat from the round shoe shape of the ballerinas. They look particularly pretty in combination with socks, which gives them a playful but elegant character. “They fit perfectly with clothes or skirts and are just as suitable for everyday life as for work,” says Heß.
Which shoe should not be missing in any wardrobe this season is, according to Claudia Schulz from the German Shoe Institute, the Slingback. This modern variant of the classic pump has an open heel area. The shoe not only looks elegant, but can also be styled in a variety of ways. The models are available with both small paragraphs and flat. In everyday work, sling pumps are a good alternative to closed shoes. And they are ideal for summer temperatures.
What colors and patterns do you see next summer?
Gentle pastel tones such as sky blue, vanilla and mint can be found in the collections, supplemented by lively colors such as yellow, orange and raspberry red, says Claudia Schulz. Metallic tones such as silver, gold and bronze can also be seen this season.
Animal prints are still trendy, i.e. animal patterns. “Leo is a classic that can be found in all types of shoes, from sneakers to sandals,” says Claudia Schulz. If you want to set brave accents, you will find zebra and snake optics in the collections.
What materials are the order of the day?
The focus is on materials that radiate lightness and naturalness. For example, mesh, a network -like material that, according to Dunja Hess, is particularly popular with ballerinas. Nubucel leather in pastel or metallic tones is also the central element of the collections.
Especially with sandals and mules, materials are used that underline the summer character of the shoes – for example Raffia, a straw -like material that is obtained by a palm. Also typical for the season: macrame and crochet optics, the latter are also summarized under the keyword “Crochet”.
“Another highlight is the use of perforated materials,” says Claudia Schulz. These canted details ensure an interesting look and additional breathing activity.
In addition, paint leather celebrates a comeback and set shiny accents – for example with elegant moccasins.
And what about the men?
Loafers are still popular in men and women in classic and modern variants. While the shoes have so far been more pointed, you can now see so -called “Square Toe Loafers”, ie versions that have a angular shape on the toes.
“Especially the two-tone models, so-called ‘Two-Tone Loafer’, are on the rise,” says style consultant Heß. These models combine, for example, beige with a white toe cap and are an elegant alternative to sneakers.
Speaking of sneakers: retro models à la Samba and Co. with suede details also remain popular. Basically, according to Hess, sneakers with narrower silhouettes and less chunky soles prevail.
Moccasins and sandals in combination with Bermuda shorts and light materials such as linen give summer outfits a touch of vacation flair. “Even men are increasingly becoming elegant sandals that can be stylishly combined with suits or shorts,” says Schulz.
What special details or accessories in shoe fashion
Accent?
According to Claudia Schulz, shoes with loving details are clearly the focus of the season. Grinding, pearls and straps are central elements that give many models a feminine note. “Sandals with lace -ups that are bound to the ankle or even higher are particularly striking,” says Dunja Heß.
Claudia Schulz emphasizes that flower motifs in shoe fashion will also play a role. “Large flowers in tone-in-tone optics adorn mules and sandals and set romantic accents”. Other highlights are applications from rhinestones and rivets.
“Fashion should be fun and underline the personal style,” summarizes Claudia Schulz. Whether ballerinas, loafer or elegant sandals: The variety of trends invites you to try new things and find your own style – somewhere between pearls, metallic accents or extraordinary materials.
