After four and a half years of blocking, the song “only with you”, a feature between Shirin David and Xavier Naidoo from 2019, is again available on streaming platforms. The Shirin David fans initially suspect a bad April joke. But what’s really going on?
A song with a difficult past
The track was released in September 2019 as the last single before the release of Supersize, David’s debut album. A soulful love duet in which Naidoo sings the second stanza. Even then, a collaboration with Naidoo was questionable. Despite his musical heritage, the singer had been criticized for his political statements and allegations of anti -Semitism for years. When Naidoo became loud with conspiracy theories during Corona pandemic, Shirin David pulled the ripcord. Racism scandal and the supposed purification
In the spring of 2020, Naidoo’s most controversial action followed: a racist vocal video in which he mainly rushed against refugees. This escalation led to many earlier companions from Naidoo distancing themselves.
In April 2022 the apparent U -turn: In a three -minute video, Naidoo apologized for his conspiracy theoretical and racist statements and distanced himself from “right and conspiratorial groups”. What remains is questionable to what extent this distance was sincerely or only motivated in a career tactically.
Comeback by Moses Pelham?
A possible reason for the re -publication of “only with you” could be Xavier Naidoo’s most recent musical comeback. In January 2024, the last words appeared, the final solo album of producer and rapper Moses Pelham, on which Naidoo is represented twice as a feature guest. Pelham seems to hide the controversy around Naidoo. According to “HipHop.de”, the rapper stated that he recently had experienced the allegations. In an interview with “Deutschrap Ideal”, he primarily emphasizes the “human component” between Naidoo and him.
Fans celebrate the return of the song
While some fans are happy about the sudden reappearance of the song and in the comment columns several times “Finally we have it back”, the re-release remains questionable. Why now? Does Shirin David, who prefers to appear with Ski AGGU, consciously decided to re -publish or is the decision with your label?
And: does that mean a gradual comeback from Xavier Naidoo in the German music scene? At least Shirin David didn’t need this step – her current album smart but Blonde just reached the first place on the album charts.
