Johan Derksen makes mincemeat of Margje Fikse, the presenter of the talk show where Wierd Duk left the table last weekend. “That woman clearly does not know her trade.”

Last weekend, Telegraaf journalist Wierd Duk walked away from the talk show Dit is de Week, presented by Margje Fikse, because he had been lured there under false pretenses. Fellow guest Ronit Palache started bashing him incessantly and Wierd did not like that; he ran away and receives support from Mischa Blok.

Johan supports Wierd

Johan Derksen fully understands this. “I don’t think it’s an exaggeration. If someone goes to a TV program as a guest in a talk show, and Mrs. Palache or Palach or whatever her name is, she had planned and prepared at home: I hate Wierd, I don’t like him sitting next to me, so I’m going to make fun of him.”

He continues in the podcast Greetings from Grolloo: “She had neatly noted it all down in her phone call. If you then realize that that lady has only one goal – not a discussion about the topics but just to make fun of Wierd – then you can only do one thing and resign.”

Making fun of

Johan himself also has experience with walking away from a TV show. “I had that once with Wilfred, who had also decided to make a fool of me for a moment and then I thought: I am not going to participate in this. I am willing to discuss, but if the opposing party at home comes up with a plot saying: this is how I am going to handle it, then it is time to distance yourself.”

He continues: “I think Wierd always says sensible things, although they are open to discussion, but discuss them substantively, but do not come up with a plan for the campaign in advance: that dick is there, we are going to tackle it on TV.”

Private war

What does Johan think of Sander Schimmelpenninck railing against Wierd again in his Volkskrant column? “I think that a columnist should not use his space for private wars, he says the same thing every time. People who have a different opinion than Sander Schimmelpenninck are portrayed as stupid or far-right.”

He continues: “What kind of nonsense is that? I actually think it is high time that the editor-in-chief of De Volkskrant intervenes, but he sits there and watches it and apparently thinks everything is fine, because Wierd Duk is from De Telegraaf and that is the enemy, and then we no longer have journalistic standards. I find it shocking.”

Margje slaughtered

Then it’s Margje Fikse’s turn, the presenter of the whole thing. “When I see Margje Fikse… Look, if anyone is completely unsuitable for leading a talk show, it is Margje Fikse, but because Tijs van den Brink suddenly became a politician at the CDA, they have to put her there.”

Margje is a TV drama, Johan thinks. “She can’t improvise if it doesn’t go exactly according to the script. Then she panics.”

Whining on

This presenter is a typical example of someone who cannot keep things under control, according to Johan. “She let that lady whine about Wierd Duk for another twenty minutes, which made no sense, because there was no opponent anymore. Margje Fikse, I am not surprised that things are getting out of hand, because she simply does not master her profession.”

“And then Mr. Segers from the Christian Union is there and he just sits around being a good boy and mentioning Bible texts. That’s of no use to you. He always talks around it and never takes sides!”
