The Ministry of Health of New Jersey (NJDOH) has published a public warning after a person infected with measles has attended a concert by the Colombian singer Shakira. The concert took place on Thursday, May 15th, in the Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

According to an official statement on the website of the Ministry of Health, the infected person is someone who is not living in New Jersey, but was among the concert goers during the contagious phase. As a result, all people who visited the show could have been exposed to an infection risk.
“The Ministry of Health of New Jersey (NJDOH) warns the population of possible contagions in connection with a newly identified measles case in a person who is not living in New Jersey, but visited a concert in New Jersey during the contagious phase,” says the official message.
Measles are highly contagious and can quickly spread in large crowds. The authorities ask all concert goers: inside to check their vaccination status and to immediately obtain medical advice in the event of symptoms such as fever, rash, cough or conjunctivitis.

Shakira, with a full name Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, is currently on her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour”.
