SGS Essen wins opening game against Cologne

SGS Essen clearly won the opening game of the women’s Bundesliga after the long winter break. In the duel between the table neighbors against 1. FC Köln, coach Markus Högner’s team deservedly won 4-0 (2-0).

Already at the break, the SGS led 2-0 against harmless Cologne women in the stadium on Hafenstraße with goals from Ramona Maier (20th) and Beke Sterner (40th).

Even after the change of sides, Essen controlled the game and increased through Vivien Endemann (64th) and Katharina Pilijc (74th). The SGS also failed twice over the crossbar.
