After the sexist chants of Essen fans playing against Verl last Friday towards the referee Fabienne Michel, the DFB control committee is now initiating investigations.
The DFB had only found out about the incidents by researching the sports show. After examining the present TV recordings, those responsible have now come to the conclusion that there are at least relevant violations here.
Rot-Weiss Essen has been written to in accordance with the legal and procedural regulations and has now been asked for a written statement.
DFB Schiri GmbH expressly welcomes the investigations taken: “The support and protection of the referees in particular is very important to us and has a high priority”writes the head of communication and media work Alex Feuerherdt.
Sexist insults and verbal sexual violence
In the game against the SC Verl, the Essen fans had taken mistakes from the referee Fabienne Michels in the 3-0 loss of the referee Fabienne Michels as an opportunity to vote that not only contained sexist insults, but also verbal sexual violence.
The incident initially remained without further effects because it was neither documented by the referee observer present nor by the referee in the game report sheet.
It is questionable whether Fabienne Michel noticed the incident. At the time of discriminatory chants, she was intensively involved in the game. It is unclear why other those present and those responsible did not forward the incident.
No Impulse Despite clearly defined processes
Basically, there are clearly defined processes in cases of sexist discrimination as well as in racism, the SC Verl writes at the request of the sports show: “The stadium spokesman’s announcements, speech by fan representative are part of this process.”
A red line, such as through certain terms, is not defined. Whether and when will be intervened is at the discretion of the security officer in consultation with the referee team. The interface is the referee representative.
It is not possible to clarify why nobody felt a impulse in this chain based on the clearly sexist insults. Rot-Weiss Essen does not currently want to comment on the incidents. There is a home game against Hansa Rostock on Sunday. In Verl you want to work up the incident.
