Sevilla FC terminates Fernando’s contract early

The Brazilian midfielder Fernando and Sevilla FC have prematurely terminated the 36-year-old’s contract, which originally ran until June 2024, by mutual agreement. The background is the personal wish of the former Manchester, Porto and Galatasaray professional to return to his home country.

The right-footed player had played in Europe since 2007 and generated around 26 million euros in transfer revenue from his five stops. His highest market value dates back to his time at FC Porto and was valued at 17.5 million euros in 2013 (see history). His greatest successes include winning the Europa League three times (2x with Sevilla, 1x with Porto), eleven national titles with the Portuguese and the 2016 League Cup victory with the “Citizens”. During his time on the Bosphorus, he became Turkish champion twice and won the double with Galatasaray in 2018/19.
