Several people were injured in a major fire on the night of Thursday to Friday following an explosion at an apartment building on Osdorper Ban in Amsterdam Nieuw-West. The Amsterdam-Amstelland safety region reported this to the ANP news agency. The explosion happened in an outbuilding under the apartment. The property is partly collapsed.

The municipality of Amsterdam reports that the adjacent flat has been evacuated and that the residents are accommodated. According to the municipality, the emergency services focused mid-night from Thursday to Friday on fighting the fire, rescuing any victims and securing the area. A lot of smoke is released, but no increased values ​​have been measured in the area.

The Fire Department’s Specialized Technical Assistance team is present to provide assistance during the collapse. Nothing is yet known about the cause of the explosion.
