A broken water pipe has led to the partial closure of the world champion’s forest house. Neuer and his business partner recently put several million euros into the house.
Serious water damage has occurred in the Valepp Forsthaus Valepp, which was operated by Manuel Neuer. In the historic restaurant on the German-Austrian border, a line on a shower was broken in an uninhabited guest room on the top floor on August 7. Since then, drying devices, walls and ceilings have been running in the building, some of them have to be reopened and restored.
“Many cubic meters of water were washed into the historic walls and ceilings,” confirmed Neuer’s business partner Johannes Rabl of the “Münchner Merkur”. The damage is “several hundred thousand euros”.
The operator duo Neuer and Rabl had previously invested around six million euros in the two-year renovation of the listed house of 1842. In 2024 they received the Miesbach district protection award for the restoration. The forest house was reopened only a year ago after the work.
While the guest rooms and the inner catering have to be closed because of the repairs, the beer garden is still open. “Thank God we are well insured, and the outside operation is not affected,” said Rabl.
Particularly annoying for the operators: the damage was created in the middle of the Bavarian summer vacation. The work should continue until the end of September. “We knew from the start that this house was a life’s work,” said Rabl. The Forsthaus Valepp wanted to continue despite the current problems.
