In various places in Drenthe, activists have set fires along the highway. This happened in the vicinity of the Wijk and Hoogeveen, among other places.
The fires are a protest against the government’s nitrogen plans. Earlier in the day, Rijkswaterstaat, the East Netherlands police and the North and East Gelderland security region, among others, called on farmers to stop unsafe actions. This is in response to blockades of motorway entrances and exits.
At De Wijk, a few hay bales were set on fire tonight in the verge along the A28. About fifteen tractor units were lined up next to the hard shoulder.
