Several detainees and prisoners inflicted cuts on themselves in the Saratov pre-trial detention center

In the Saratov pre-trial detention center, several prisoners and detainees cut themselves, refusing to comply with the requirements of the institution’s employees, RBC was told in the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service (UFSIN) in the Saratov region.

“Several people held in the cells of pre-trial detention center No. 1 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Saratov Region <...> in a demonstratively blackmailing form <...> inflicted cuts on their skin,” the press service reported.

The Federal Penitentiary Service specified that the incident occurred on the night of February 7.

All those who have injured themselves are accused or convicted under the articles of murder (Article 105 of the Criminal Code), robbery (Article 161 of the Criminal Code), robbery (Article 162 of the Criminal Code) and intentional infliction of harm to health (Article 111 of the Criminal Code). They were examined by a medical worker, the condition of each is assessed as satisfactory, they said in the Federal Penitentiary Service.
