At least two people were killed and seven injured in a shooting at a Christian private school in the US state of Wisconsin on Monday. International news agencies report this. The juvenile shooter is believed to be a student at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison. He was found dead after the attack, but it has not been revealed how he died.
Earlier, the police spoke at a press conference of four deaths, not including the shooter. This number was later adjusted to two deaths the police reported on social media. It is not clear why the death toll was adjusted downwards.
Police officers came to the school in large numbers, but did not have to use their service weapons. Some of the injured are said to be in life-threatening condition and have been taken to a nearby hospital. Police have cordoned off the roads around the school and are currently conducting an investigation into the act of violence.
Abundant Life Christian School offers education from preschool through high school. Nearly four hundred students are enrolled at the school. President Joe Biden has been briefed on the shooting.
