The Amsterdam court will hear the criminal cases against seven suspects alleged to have been involved in the riots after the Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv football match on November 7 on Wednesday and Thursday. The seven are suspected of involvement in assault, public violence and/or incitement to violence via WhatsApp groups. The court will discuss the cases of five suspects separately on Wednesday, with further cases against two suspects to follow on Thursday morning. It is not yet known when the court will make a ruling.

Even before the Maccabi riots broke out, the police were already monitoring pro-Palestinian app groups
Files of some suspects show that the criminal cases are based on camera images and messages from WhatsApp groups that the police have kept. For example, there is an app group called ‘Community Center 2’, which was used the morning of the match to exchange information for “a peaceful demonstration” at the Amsterdam Arena. During the afternoon, more and more messages with violent or anti-Semitic content are posted in that group.
“After the match, group in the city and surrounding area and attack individual groups. Zionists attack everywhere you see them. This is separate from this plan,” reports an unknown participant in that group. “We have to make those kk Jews feel what they did to our brothers,” someone else reported.
The first criminal case starts at 9:00 am. This blog will follow NRC the seven cases on Wednesday and Thursday.
