The arrests followed the discovery of hard drug shipments in Asia in June 2023. The drugs were found in the cargo hold of aircraft from Schiphol. A total of five shipments were intercepted: four in Asia and one at Schiphol itself.
The employees are suspected of having played various roles in the smuggling process. This ranges from transporting the drugs to the airport to facilitating the placing of the drugs in the cargo hold of the aircraft.
The investigation into the involvement of other people and possible further clients is continuing, under the leadership of the Public Prosecution Service in North Holland.
