Horst Janson has died one of the most concise characters on German television. The actor, who has been present on TV with his unmistakable roles for decades and took on many spectators, primarily because of his appearances in the children’s series “Sesame Street”, died at the age of 89.

His family confirmed the death of Janson to “Bild”. As the family lawyer confirmed to the newspaper, the actor had “fallen asleep peacefully” a few days ago. In 2024, Janson initially suffered a stroke from which he was difficult to recover. A fall also caused a hemorrhage and broke his hand. In a clinic, the mime then got a hospital germ.

Horst Janson was born in Mainz on October 4, 1935. After the first steps in the theater, he dared to jump into television and cinema. His striking, likeable face and his versatile charisma quickly made him a sought -after actor. With “Salto Mortale” and “The Bastian” he reached an audience of millions. Janson also participated in international cinema productions, for example in “Two guys from granite” with Charles Bronson and Tony Curtis and “Steiner – The Iron Cross, 2nd part” on the side of Richard Burton and Robert Mitchum.

At the beginning of the 1980s, Janson appeared as a “Horst” in the “Sesame Road” and was one of the most popular actors who played with the dolls. In addition to his never broken theater work, he remained loyal to television until the end. By 2022 it was seen in far more than 150 TV productions.
