English record champions Manchester United have suspended their player Mason Greenwood for allegedly hitting his girlfriend.
The 20-year-old will neither train nor play for the first division team for the time being, said the club from coach Ralf Rangnick. The police had previously confirmed that they were investigating the case. The authority is aware of photos and videos that are circulating on social media and wants to fully clarify the circumstances.
Greenwood’s friend had posted several posts on Instagram showing her bleeding and bruising her arms and legs. She wrote: “To anyone who wants to know what Mason Greenwood is doing to me.” The pictures have since been deleted.
Greenwood has scored five goals in 18 Premier League games for United this season and four (one) in the Champions League.
