Series of fires continues – fire again in Staaken high-rise settlement

Again there was a fire in a high-rise in the Blasewitzer Ring in Berlin-Staaken. While the fire brigade was bringing the residents to safety on Thursday night, further emergency calls were received.

At around 2.30 a.m., the fire brigade arrived at 18 Blasewitzer Ring with a large contingent of 100 emergency services. There she put out a fire in the basement. The extinguishing work and ventilation measures continued into the morning hours.

The fire brigade accommodated at least ten residents in an evacuation bus operated by the Berlin transport company. Numerous residents had to be brought outside via a safety stairwell. According to initial information, no one was injured.

Parallel to the operation in the house at number 18, the fire brigade received further emergency calls during the night. There was also a fire in the basement of the Blasewitzer Ring 36. However, only paper burned there, which the emergency services were able to quickly extinguish.

The police have now set up an investigation group into the series of fires in the Heerstraße Nord high-rise building in Staaken, and a reward of 1,000 euros has also been offered for information about the perpetrator(s).

According to BZ information, there have been over 100 arson attacks with at least 20 people injured since 2000. Most operations have taken place within the last year.

In the most recent case of the series of fires, a fire department of the Berlin police and the newly established investigative team are investigating and searching.
