Series ended: FC Bayern loses in Barcelona

The top German basketball club FC Bayern Munich has once again presented itself in strong form on the international stage – but suffered an avoidable defeat at the big FC Barcelona.

Coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team lost in the EuroLeague game on Tuesday at last year’s finalists with 66:71 (29:28), after five wins in all competitions, Munich once again left the field as losers.

Despite the narrow defeat at the second best EuroLeague team of the season so far, Munich can still hope for the playoffs.

The Bundesliga leader is now in ninth place with 11 wins and 12 defeats. The first eight places qualify for participation in the knockout phase.

Four days after the victory in the German EuroLeague duel with ALBA Berlin (62:56), an extremely tight game developed, which was primarily characterized by mistakes and weak finishes at the beginning.

Bayern made the better impression between the baskets, but neither team was effective – after the first quarter it was just 9:9.

Loud whistles at the break

However, the Munich team tended to be stronger and almost didn’t make enough of it. The Spanish fans whistled at the break, and Bayern led 29:28.

Barcelona came out stronger in the third quarter, but the visitors stayed on and took the lead again in the final section – but then a 15-2 run by the Spaniards destroyed hopes.

Bayern’s top scorer was again Vladimir Lucic (16 points), and Ognjen Jaramaz (15) also played well. On the Catalan side, Kyle Kuric (20) stood out.
