Stefano Pioli is a coach of the Italian first division club AC Florence for the second time. At the Conference League participant, the 59-year-old former Milan master coach follows Raffaele Palladino, who left the club after one year. Pioli, who looked after Viola from summer 2017 to April 2019 and won an average of 1.43 points in 74 games, signed a contract until 2028.
Most recently, the ex-professional, who played in Florence between 1989 and 1995 and did most for a club in his career with 185 games, with Cristiano Ronaldo (40) at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. After a Titellos season, however, Pioli had to go there.
Florence, which had failed three times on the triumph in the Conference League in the past three years (twice finals, once a semi -finals), is said to take the next step into the top group of Series A under Pioli. Among the top 4, which is currently entitled to the Champions League, the Tuscany Club last landed in the 2014/15 season. The last participation in the royal class even dates from the 2009/10 season when the end of the round of 16 was against FC Bayern.
Predict Palladino was able to look back on a successful season with sixth place, the best result since fifth in 2016. His contract had actually been extended by 2027. According to the Italian media, the reason for the separation is a burdened relationship with sports director Daniele Pradè.
