In group B, Abate’s team wins the 4th success in a row and joins Baldini’s team in command. Renate, Torres, Rimini, Vis Pesaro and Foggia performed well. They end 1-1 V. Verona-Giana and Lumezzane-Pro Patria
Ten matches from all three groups on the Saturday programme, with the spotlight on the long-distance duel between Pescara and Ternana. Here’s everything that happened.
group A

New away success for Renate, at Pergolettese’s home: the 1-0 is a jewel from outside the area by substitute Di Nolfo, for the sixth “2” mark for a team that thrives away. In mid-table, one point each between Virtus Verona and Giana (1-1): the away team took the lead in the first half with Caferri, in the second half the wind changed and Virtus found the equalizer with Mehic’s header. Same result (1-1) between Lumezzane and Pro Patria, both tied for third in the last four matchdays: ahead in the 13th minute through Iori, but Lumezzane found itself with ten men already after half an hour due to a double yellow for Malotti, the guests however, they don’t take full advantage of it, only managing to restore the balance with Nicco.

Successful connection: Ternana passes with authority over the Pianese field and reaches the top of Pescara, who incredibly slipped to the Adriatic in the spin with Legnago. That of Piancastagnaio is the fourth victory in a row (3-1) for Abate’s team, with the great signatures of Cianci and a wild Cicerelli (double), while Pianese had shortened the score with Mastropietro’s goal directly from the flag. In Pescara, however, the student Contini reserves a displeasure for maestro Baldini (who, as a player, made him debut in Serie A): Legnago’s blow (1-0) materializes in the 11th minute of the second half with Franzolini on an assist from Bombagi, then goalkeeper Perucchini denies the equalizer to De Marco and Pierozzi. Torres gets back in motion, fresh from four knockouts in a row (between cup and championship) but able to take advantage of a couple of Carpi blackouts to move on to Cabassi (2-1): Sardinia ahead in the 19th minute of the first half with the Zagnoni’s own goal from Guiebre’s cross, Zecca doubles the lead in close quarters and does well to take advantage of Verza’s uncertainty (before the break, Saporetti shortens the gap – returning a penalty that Zaccagno had saved against him into the net – but it’s not enough for the comeback). Rimini’s great five at Pontedera (5-1): brace from Garetto, Parigi also scored (who opened the scoring on a penalty), Falbo and the former Cioffi best on the pitch, a missed penalty from Cernigoi and the Tuscan goal of Pretato (for the provisional 3-1). Third victory in a row for Vis Pesaro, who advance to Ferrara (1-0, Paganini) emphasizing Spal’s negative moment.
group C

Cover for Potenza, which overwhelms Latina (5-1) with the fury of four goals in ten minutes: at the start of the second half Riccardi finds the provisional equalizer after taking the lead from a penalty by Caturano, but from that moment Pietro De Giorgio’s team accelerates and takes off with a brace from Rosafio, Rillo and the second center from Caturano (in double figures, thus, for the fourth season in a row). Foggia is also working well since Luciano Zauri has been on the bench: Messina gets their second away win in a row (3-0), fifth consecutive useful result, with Mazzocco’s brace and the former Emmausso’s hat-trick (in instead of Murano, replaced due to muscular problems as was Camigliano).
