Crotone scores five at Turris, Triestina wins at Novara and Catania falls at home
Saturday’s program is rich with 13 matches and the three league leaders all on the pitch. Here’s how it went.
GROUP A
—
Padova’s journey to the top continues at very high speed, rejecting the rapprochement attempted yesterday by Vicenza: at the Euganeo the leaders beat a good Lumezzane (2-0) with a goal in each half from Capelli (served by Liguori) and from Spagnoli, who in the end he finds the goal again after the injury. In Wednesday’s injury time in Chioggia, Andreoletti’s team will have the opportunity to extend their lead over Vicenza by eight: it would mean closing the first round on 51 points, equaling the record of Vivarini’s Catanzaro.
Sixth victory in a row at home for Atalanta U23, which climbs to fourth place, easily freeing itself from an injury-plagued Lecco (5-2): Cassa and Alessio are unleashed, both scoring a brace, top scorer Vlahovic also scores, the guests try to keep up first with Galeandro and then with Sipos but they end up overwhelmed. Alcione has the same points as the Bergamo team, confirming its place as an away team by beating Giana in Gorgonzola (2-0) with a brace from Palombi.
Triestina has regenerated since Attilio Tesser returned: seven points in three games, the last three won in Novara (3-2) where the Montebelluna coach is a former great: it all happens in the second half after Lorenzini’s expulsion, the Piedmontese – even though there are ten of them – they reply twice to Olivieri (second consecutive double, after the one against Vicenza) thanks to Basso and Agyemang, but El Azrak over 90′.
GROUP B

While waiting for the big match between Ternana and Entella on Sunday, Pescara slowed down once again, allowing themselves to be caught up with time running out (2-2) in Campobasso: ahead in the first half with Riccardo Forte, the Molise team were overtaken by a brace from substitute Merola (the second was a gem goal, from the back, triggered by a great move by Dagasso), but they equalized in the 95th minute with Di Nardo finding the intersection despite the numerical inferiority for the red in Benassai. And so Ternana, by winning the battle at the top, could overtake it by taking the solitary summit and next Sunday it is expected at the crossroads for promotion to the Adriatic.
In the playoff zone, meanwhile, they have to start dealing with Ascoli, who are ferociously climbing up the table (four victories in a row, eight useful results): the 1-0 on the Legnago pitch – which is unable to provide continuity to the coup in Pescara – Varone scores it, deflecting a shot from Tremolada midway through the first half. Sestri Levante’s crisis finds no solution, even after the dismissal of Scotto (the second Russo on the bench): Carpi also passes to Sivori (3-1) with Contiliano, Puletto and Gerbi, but Parravicini shortens in vain after time expires.
GROUP C

Vigorito breaks the score: league leaders Benevento loses for the first time at home, beaten by Giugliano (1-0, 27′ into the second half) thanks to former Como Celeghin’s header from a corner. And so, while waiting for the commitments of Monopoli and Cerignola, Potenza also climbs into the group of second teams, highlighting Catania’s usual limitations: at Massimino it’s a celebration for De Giorgio’s team, led by the usual Caturano (a brace for the 2-0 and 13 goals of the season) which was not opposed by a more uncertain Adamonis than ever (the other goalkeeper, Alastra, saved Stoppa’s penalty which would have halved the deficit).
Crotone returns to success, spreading (5-0) over a Turris team that appeared to be disarmed despite the fact that president Capriola announced the resolution of the club’s problems: on the pitch, meanwhile, Conte’s team is leaking from all sides and is being overrun by Oviszach, Tumminello, Guerini (double, best of the match) and Vitale. Winning debut for Eziolino Capuano at the helm of Trapani, who passes to Caserta (1-0) thanks to Lescano who takes advantage of Carriero’s cue (for Casertana the stop comes after seven consecutive useful results). At the Viviani in Potenza, Enzo Maiuri with his Cavese proves to be indigestible for Sorrento (3-1): Bolsius responds to Fella who unlocks the match, then the guests extend the lead with Pezzella and close the score with Vitale. The Brambilla treatment continues to work for Juve Next Gen, who in Biella takes home the survival clash with Messina (2-0): the goals of Guerra – striker out of altitude – and of Afena Gyan (formerly of Roma and Cremonese).
