January 25 – 10.19pm – MILAN

A Saturday full of ideas in Serie C: the leaders of groups A and B are on the field, while in the South – after the night of the great transfer coup, Lescano from Trapani to Avellino – there is a new owner of the top (at least for this evening). Here’s everything that happened.

group a

Second consecutive home draw for Padova, who are stopped by Pro Vercelli and entices Vicenza (by beating Alcione tomorrow, the closest pursuer would move to within six of the top): at Euganeo the unfortunate own goal by Fusi, the league leaders reacted by finding an equalizer with Perrotta following a corner development but did not go further. Atalanta U23’s home slip against Lumezzane was also unexpected: a balanced match decided by Tenkorang (1-0). Renate’s is a serious crisis, overwhelmed in Meda by Virtus Verona (3-0) and their fourth defeat in a row: Nobile’s saves limit the damage in the first half, but then Virtus escapes with merit with the two converted penalties by Manfrin and De Marchi and closes the accounts with Contini. Thanks to the substitutions, Novara overturns Pro Patria, emerging with the three points (2-1) from a complicated match: guests ahead with Ferri, then Gattuso throws in Owusu and the latest arrival Da Graca, finding the equalizer with the former Juve, before overtaking thanks to Mehic’s own goal (Pro close to equal with Beretta, who hits the crossbar). A goal in each half between Clodiense – four points in two games for Tedino – and Arzignano (1-1): Biondi’s seventh goal in the league responds in the second half with a diving header for the equalizer by Cariolato.

group b

Fabio Gallo’s Entella is a perfect machine at the moment, traveling at a pace that is difficult for the competition to keep up with: with the 2-0 against Pianese (with Di Mario and the new signing Fall, ex Trapani), the fifth comes victory in a row and the third consecutive match without conceding a goal, in the context of a useful series lasting 18 games. With Ternana hosting Vis Pesaro tomorrow, the provisional second place is taken by Torres who however returns with just one point (0-0) from the away match in Pineto (the Abruzzo – ready to welcome the arrival of Tunjov from Pescara – they are saved twice by Tonti’s saves on Varela). Campobasso’s lack of victories cannot be resolved (the three points have been missing since the beginning of November) and so, after the 1-1 draw with Gubbio, Piero Braglia is sacked: the usual Di Nardo (who also hits a post) avoids the defeat, overcoming Tommasini’s Umbrian lead. The goal from Contiliano’s ex – on loan from Spal – earned Carpi success (1-0) in the derby with the Ferrara team: Serpini’s team had not scored for 424 minutes and thus caused Dossena’s bench to wobble.

group c

In front of everyone is Cerignola, at least for one night, waiting for Foggia-Benevento and Monopoli-Cavese. In the 90th minute, Martinelli’s great volleyed goal – on the bank of Capomaggio, triggered by a throw from Tascone – signed the fourth away win in a row, thus stopping Potenza’s streak which had not lost in seven games: Rosafio responded to Salvemini’s lead from a free kick (one of the former players, together with coach Raffaele) with a great left-footed shot into the top corner, then a significant missed opportunity by Caturano but also Cerignola’s desire to win it until the end (before the decisive goal, Salvemini again forced Siatounis to save on the line). Draw with many chances in the other match between Casertana and Messina (1-1), first point for Banchieri on his debut on the Sicilian bench: guests ahead with De Sena, in the second half the reply of the newly arrived Egharevba.
