Stroppa’s Venetians have the best internal performance in the championship. And they run more than Inter and Milan in Italy. While in Europe only Arsenal, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have better loot

Stroppa’s call found a wide response: “I’ll wait for you at Penzo on December 27th too, we want the stadium warm and full”. And the public willingly wore the twelfth man’s shirt: in Venice, after all, the axiom works wonderfully. The lagoon players closed the first part of the season with the best home performance of all: 24 points in 9 matches. Three months in a row with only green marks at Penzo: even better than several big names around Europe. And of all the Serie A battleships.

Venezia, on the lagoon, sank only once: 20 September, 1-2 reverse against Cesena. Poster of an electric race between two obvious competitors in the first four places. From then on, the aranioneroverdi went into high gear: the 2-0 against Spezia the following week opened a series of seven consecutive successes. And Penzo has transformed itself into a locomotive towards the top of the table: in Venice, big names such as Monza and above all Frosinone, overwhelmed 3-0 in the direct clash in October, have fallen. Stroppa has armored a defense that is now the second most virtuous in the championship (14 goals conceded, only Palermo did better) thanks also to internal performance: the last to score in Venice was Sampdoria. But it was November 8th, and the Blucerchiati still lost 3-1.

better than the Milanese ones

The score of the lagoon players also surpasses that of the big leagues in Serie A. To date, the best within friendly walls is Milan (20 points in 9 games with only one defeat, in August against Cremonese) with a two-point advantage over Inter. Asterisk on Napoli: Conte collected 19 points at Maradona, but only played 7 games in the Fuorigrotta fort. And this means that, if they were to collect two victories in the next two home matches (Verona and Parma), they would be able to beat Venezia’s record. And in Europe? Taking into consideration the first divisions between Spain, England, France and Germany, it emerges that only Arsenal, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have collected more points than Stroppa at home: respectively 28 (out of 10 matches), 27 (out of 9 matches, en plein for the Blaugrana) and 25 (out of 9 matches). For Bayern the same applies to Napoli: they have scored fewer points than Venezia because they have only played 8 home matches, but next time they face Wolfsburg they could bring their tally to 25. Going down to the lower level of the four best European leagues, Venezia’s performance becomes unique: only three Championship teams (Coventry, Ipswich and Watford) have collected more points, but all three have played 12 home matches against Stroppa’s 9. And this means that the aranioneroverdi, if they were to continue like this until May, would have an excellent chance of becoming the team with the best home points average of all the top European second divisions.

the other big names in b

Stroppa now needs a super roster even away from home, because away from Penzo Venezia has a performance of eighth place. And how are the other big Serie B players doing at home? The ranking within the friendly walls behind the aranioneroverdi sees Monza (22 points in 9 matches) and Palermo (21 points in 10 matches). Catanzaro’s internal performance also stands out: 19 points in 10 games played at Ceravolo. But it is Juve Stabia who can really undermine the home record: the Vespas are the only team that has never lost in front of their fans, conceding only 3 goals in 4 months, a couple of which in the same match. The one a month ago against Monza, the last time Juve Stabia conceded a goal at home. The real paradox, however, concerns league leaders Frosinone: the Lazio team achieved more satisfaction away from home than at Stirpe, 21 points against 17. Even if it must be said that they only played 8 matches within friendly walls.
