Serena Williams does not rule out a return to the tennis court one day. In an interview with actor Bradley Cooper for A+E Networks, the tennis star says she “could definitely go back” if she wanted to.

Williams, 40, announced in August that she would end her tennis career. She decided that because “she just had to stop,” she tells Cooper. “I’ve always said that I wanted to stop when I could play tennis very well and beat very good players,” she continues. “For me, it’s really about spiritual things and spending time with my daughter and my family.”

Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian became parents to daughter Olympia in 2017. “It was very difficult because I’m really a mother who handles. I lost a lot of games because it was difficult to be on the track,” Williams said. “I’ve given so much of my life to tennis, my whole life. It’s time to do other things.”
