Sensation! Early exit for Gerwyn Price

Former world champion Gerwyn Price was surprisingly eliminated from the 2024 Darts World Cup in London.

The Iceman, as the former professional rugby player from Wales is known, lost 4-2 to Northern Irishman Brendan Dolan in round three and has to prematurely give up his dream of a second title after 2021.

“I’m absolutely disappointed with the chances I missed tonight. I tried to force it too hard and beat myself up,” Price wrote on Instagram shortly after the match. “I just couldn’t find my flow and Brendan took advantage of every chance I gave him. He did very well. I hope I can learn from it.”

Dolan could face former Scottish champion Gary Anderson in the round of 16 if he wins against Croatian outsider Boris Krcmar on Friday evening.

The afternoon session was all about the English. After Stephen Bunting’s clear 4-0 win over German Florian Hempel, Joe Cullen also won (4-2 against compatriot Ryan Searle).

Darts World Cup: Thrilling duel between Dobey and Smith

Chris Dobey and Ross Smith fought a thrilling duel with high scores and close sets. Dobey ended up winning 4-2 after losing two consecutive sets after taking a 2-0 lead.

He will face world champion and compatriot Michael Smith in the round of 16.
