The Senate agreed tonight to the 1.9 billion euros for the Lower Saxony Line and the 100 million euros for the bottle neck at Meppel that was included in the Spring Memorandum. “This is a beautiful milestone,” said deputy Henk Jumelet (CDA).

The Drenthe politician, who is also chairman of the Steering Group Lower Saxony Line, calls it great news for his province. “The Lower Saxony Line, the connection between Groningen and Enschede, is a game check in our region.”

Jumelet is also satisfied with the money that is released for the track at Meppel. “That is a nice milestone. Solving the bottleneck and the arrival of the Lower Saxony Line make the Northern Netherlands even more accessible.” He points out that more jobs will be accessible for residents.
