Manchester City are facing their most expensive signing so far this transfer window. As “Sky Sports” in England reports, Antoine Semenyo’s medical check has been booked for this Thursday. Before that, the 25-year-old right winger will play his last game for AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday evening against Tottenham Hotspur.

This transfer needs to be done quickly as Semenyo’s release clause is due to expire on Friday. According to reports, this amounts to 65 million pounds (a good 74 million euros). The most expensive transfer so far this January is Brennan Johnson with a transfer fee of 40 million euros. This would make Semenyo the record departure from Cherries. Man City has already paid four times more for a new signing.
As a winger with a very variable profile, Semenyo is Bournemouth’s most dangerous player with nine goals and three assists in 19 games. Its market value has increased six times in a row since 2024, most recently to 65 million euros. At the Citizens, the Ghanaian international is supposed to make the offense more variable. Erling Haaland stands out there with 25 goals. Across all competitions, the most dangerous City player after the Norwegian is Phil Foden, who has ten goals. Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders follow with five goals each (according to Man City’s performance data).

Ex-Frankfurt player Omar Marmoush, who arrived a year ago for 75 million euros and was supposed to be number two in goals after Haaland, is not getting going this season so far. Since his knee injury in September, which put him out of action for four weeks, he has only made short appearances. Before Christmas he left for the Africa Cup of Nations.
